The project focuses on enhancing public transportation by monitoring bus seat occupancy for improved journey planning efficiency.
The project "Intelligent Transport" leverages advanced sensors and technologies to enhance public transportation efficiency. By integrating the OV2640 camera sensor, NEO-6M GPS module, and ESP32-CAM module, the system can accurately monitor seat occupancy in BEST buses in Mumbai. The high-quality OV2640 camera sensor captures images of the bus interior, while the NEO-6M GPS module tracks the real-time location of the bus. These components are connected to the ESP32-CAM module, which processes the data and transmits it to a central server via 4G communication.
The system utilizes image processing techniques such as OpenCV and YOLO for passenger detection and counting. OpenCV is a robust framework known for its speed and accuracy in image processing tasks. Additionally, Firebase is employed for real-time data transfer, ensuring fast and secure communication between the bus sensors and the server. This seamless integration of sensors and technologies enables the system to provide commuters with up-to-date information on seat availability, allowing them to plan their journeys more effectively and avoid overcrowded buses.
By combining these sensors and technologies, the project aims to revolutionize the public transportation experience by offering passengers valuable insights into bus occupancy levels. This innovative approach not only enhances passenger comfort and convenience but also contributes to the overall efficiency and sustainability of public transport systems in urban areas like Mumbai.
